It's the Little Things
Kindred Hospital, with its unique blend of talent, demonstrates a
good model on how important it is to work together. You should take
time to celebrate the important accomplishments you have made. Not
everyone can be a nurse!
Thank you – those of you that had to
explain to me many times what you were doing, and while I know I was a
pain, this information makes it easier for me to take care of myself and
to pass this information to another nurse. I have really enjoyed and
appreciated some of the specialized services I received, from Pam and
the wound care staff, as well as the respiratory people. However, all
levels were important. I would love to name names but I would be sad if I
left anyone out.
Those of you that gave me an ice-cold cup of
Sprite when it seemed so important to me…
The RNs that stood by
my IV pole late at night so they would be there to avoid the beeping
sound that wakes me up and disrupts my much-needed sleep…
The RN
with a positive, encouraging word that started me on a much needed and
comfortable spiritual path…
The CNA that made his presence known
every morning so I would feel that my needs (even at a lower level of
care) were important too…
The LVN – so competent that gave me
such reassuring words during my first panic attack…
These may
have seemed like small acts to you. They are noticed and mean a lot to
your charges.
Let me conclude by saying in some small way, I feel
I could be a voice of some of the people in the rooms I pass in the
halls. I know if they could, they would also thank you for your human
kindness. They would say, “God Bless you and keep up the good work.”
Thanks,
Helen V.
To the Kindred Staff
The following address was made by the son of a former patient at Kindred Hospital Sacramento. He spoke at a ceremony honoring KH Sacramento as the 2010 recipient of the Gold Award, given to the hospital with best overall performance in patient care excellence, customer
satisfaction, efficiency and employee satisfaction.
Hello, my name is Dan Osburn. Many of you have helped take care of my father Richard. And, I’ve had the pleasure to meet and get to know many, many of you as well.
I wanted to take this opportunity to tell everyone thank you; you do a great job!
I first came here to Kindred on Christmas Day. I assessed Dad’s new surroundings. It was not the shiny new ICU that Dad had just come from. But, the facility does not do the hospital justice. It’s the people that matter. The Doctors, Nurses, CNAs, Respiratory Therapists, Housekeeping, Physical Therapists, Radiology, the Kitchen, the Pharmacy, Engineering, and all the Managers...you make a great team! You may have already heard me say this in the past. You are caring, compassionate, and competent.
Everyone maintains such a positive attitude. To me, that is important. After Dad was discharged from Kindred, he had a relapse and spent time at another facility. Their attitudes were not so positive. I was so happy after being told he was accepted for readmission to Kindred. Having had the opportunity to compare, I say Kindred is BEST IN CLASS.
This award is an affirmation of that; a validation of what you and I already know. You deserve this award. You make a difference in the lives of patients and their families.
Keep up the good work! We thank you.
